This is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it. For each new day that God makes, there is a measure of provision and sustenance for each person!
Now we have to choose how we respond to that. We can live off the back of our own strength, we can even settle to live off what was yesterday’s bread (which can only sustain the day that it was meant for), or we can have daily bread! Remember that yesterday’s bread (manna, as it was called in the Old Testament) made the Israelites ill for it was stale bread, so beware!
What is this daily bread? Alongside reading God’s Word, the Bible, and being sensitive to the work of His Spirit, there is relationship with the One who is life itself: Jesus!
Just as we have to eat food daily to sustain us daily, so we have to consume enough spiritual ‘food’ or ‘bread’ to sustain us daily. Let us go to Him, who is the very bread of life. Our daily relationship with Him is our daily sustenance!
I finish today’s entry with a prayer, as Jesus did to his Father, our Father.
Father, give us today our daily bread…
